Route Network Plan
From the Balmoral Station, next to the University of Winnipeg, a network of transit routes will operate along the Graham Transit Mall, the Main Street diamond lanes, the new Transitway, and the regular street network to provide fast, reliable transit service to the southwest part of the city (including the University of Manitoba, residential, commercial, and industrial areas).
The transit routes will access the Transitway at either end or at an intermediate point at Pembina & Warsaw to provide a very flexible service network, minimizing the need to transfer and providing a one-seat trip for a majority of passengers. The Transitway portion will allow buses to bypass on-street traffic congestion on Pembina Highway, at Osborne Junction, in Osborne Village, and on Donald Street.
On November 16, 2011 City Council approved the route changes for the Southwest Transitway that opens for service Sunday April 8th, 2012. Below are the Southwest Rapid Transit Corridor route maps and the maps of routes that are revised to help service the corridor.
