Canada Summer Games

The 2017 Canada Summer Games runs from Friday, July 28 through Sunday, August 13, 2017. Winnipeg Transit provides regular service to and from 16 event venues. To plan your trip by bus use Navigo – Winnipeg Transit’s online trip planner.

Opening Ceremony

The 2017 Canada Games opening ceremony will take place at the Bell MTS Centre on Friday, July 28, 2017. The Bell MTS Centre, in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, is served by bus routes from all corners of the city.

Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony for the 2017 Canada Games will take place on Sunday, August 13 at Investors Group Field, located on the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry Campus. Winnipeg Transit has several regular service bus routes that operate on a Sunday schedule to and from Investors Group Field.

Canada Games Venue locations and Transit Routes

  • Canada Games Sport for Life Centre – 145 Pacific Ave – This venue is serviced by routes 11, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 33, 44, 45, 47, (This venue is a short walk from the bus stop. Most buses will stop at Northbound Main & James – Concert Hall or Southbound Main at William – City Hall)
  • Shaw Park – 1 Portage Avenue East – This venue is serviced by routes 1, 2, 10, 38, 43. Routes 16, 18, 20, 33, 44, 45, 47 will stop on Main & Pioneer for passengers to access this venue.
  • Whittier Park – 836 St Joseph Street – This venue is serviced by routes 10, 43. Buses will stop on Provencher & St. Joseph for passengers to access this venue (10 minute walk). During the morning and afternoon rush hour, passengers can use route 56 to access the venue, with buses stopping at St. Joseph & Aubert (5 minute walk).
  • Winnipeg Lawn Tennis Club – 761 North Drive – Serviced by routes 29, 60, 160, 162, 170. Buses will stop at Pembina & Point Road/Windermere for passengers to access this venue (10 minute walk).
