Direction To The Future - The Guide to Better Transit Service for Winnipeg is a major review of the transit system in Winnipeg and it will form an important framework for significant decisions to be made by City Council.
The original draft report was distributed to a wide cross section of organizations in
Winnipeg for feedback. There were many views expressed and these views helped in finalizing
the report to provide a balanced and comprehensive review of the transit system in Winnipeg.
The report examines many immediate and longer term issues with important recommendations for the improvement of public transit in Winnipeg. Winnipeg Transit has an enviable record as one of the best managed and most efficient transit systems in Canada, but the major challenges have been and will continue to be - increasing transit ridership and maintaining fare increases to reasonable and equitable levels.
The Executive Summary provides a synopsis of the entire report including the mandate of the Working Group and its members.
