Winnipeg Transit

There is an upcoming schedule change on Dec 16, 2018

Creating and Editing a Timetable

Create a Timetable

new timetable icon There are two ways in which you can create a new timetable:

  1. from a trip planned by Navigo
  2. from scratch by selecting the routes and/or stops that interest you

At the bottom of every Navigo trip result is a Create a timetable for this plan link. If you click on it, a timetable will automatically be created for that plan for the approximate two-hour period surrounding the time of travel specified in your Navigo request. You can save the timetable for future reference in My Timetables. You can edit it, too, before you save it. It’s a good starting point to learn how to create and edit your own personal timetables.

For more information regarding Navigo, click here.

Create a Timetable from Scratch!

In the left side bar you find the Timetables menu options. Click on the Create Timetable button to open a new timetable template. Please refer to the help sections below for instructions on how to get information into your timetable.

Don’t forget to save your new timetable when you are done!

Timetable Settings

When a timetable is created, it will default to display timetable information for the current day and for the current Transit seasonal schedule period (also called a “Booking”). You can view and change these and other settings by pressing the edit button

found on the timetable header. An “Edit Timetable” window will open. If any changes are made, press the Submit button found at the bottom of the window.

Change the Timetable Title

Click in the title field and enter the name that you would like to call your timetable.

Definition

Select the schedule type for the information that you would like to see.

Most often, only Transit’s current schedule period (also called a “Booking”) will be available for selection. But when we are nearing a schedule change, both the current and next booking will be available for selection. This could be handy when you want to create timetables for a future booking.

Preferences

You can override the preferences that you have specified in your user settings .

Easy Access

easy access icon Winnipeg Transit’s low-floor buses enable easy access for individuals with limited mobility, those traveling in a wheelchair or scooter, and those traveling with a child stroller.

If you want “Easy Access” icons displayed in timetables or Navigo results to indicate transit service that is served by low-floor buses, then select the Show option for Easy Access. If you do not want the “Easy Access” icons to be displayed, then select Hide.

You can also specify with the click of a button whether you would like to list only service that is operated by “easy access” buses, or all service regardless of accessibility.

If you require easy access to a bus and would like your timetable to show only the low-floor bus information, you can select the Easy access only option.

Notes

Notes are often included in timetables to indicate the direction or destination of the bus on a route.

Some examples of notes are:

  • “To Downtown” or “D”,
  • “Via Regent” or “R”, and
  • “To Airport Via Flight Rd.” or “F”.

You can select “Full Notes” or “Note Codes” to display notes in timetables. If there are many columns in the timetables you use, you may want to use “Note Codes” to minimize column widths.

Delete Contained Section

Press the Expand button found beside the delete heading to display a list of the sections contained in the timetable. If you would like to delete any of the sections, click on the check-box of that section and then press the Submit button.

The Anatomy of a Timetable

Timetables consist of a few parts that help to organize the bus departure times that you want to see in your timetable:

  • A column will contain the bus departure times for one or more bus stops that you specify. You can have one or more columns of bus departure times in your timetable.
  • A group will contain one or more columns of information. Groups are useful for organizing your information. You can have one or more groups in your timetable. For example, one group might have the departure and arrival bus stops for the first route you use for a trip that involves a transfer. The second group might have the departure and arrival bus stops for the second route you use in your trip.
  • A section will contain one or more groups. Sections are useful for organizing your information at a higher level. You can have one or more sections in your timetable. For example, one section might be for your travel to work; the other section for your travel back home from work.

Your timetable can contain as little or as much information as you choose. You can create a timetable that has only one column containing the one bus stop that is of interest to you… say, the stop nearest your home. Or you can create a timetable that has a lot of information. For a timetable example, click here.

Getting Started – Add a Stop

To get started when creating a new timetable, edit

‘New Column’ and add a stop.

When you have completed this task, press the Submit button.

Stops

This stops section will display a list of the bus stops that are included in the column.

To add a stop to the column, enter a stop number or an intersection in the Search stops field. A list of stops that may be a match for the number or intersection you are entering will be displayed and you can select the appropriate stop from the list. You can also click on My Stops to display a list of your saved stops and then select one from that list.

If you would like to remove a stop from the column, press the Delete button beside the stop.

Routes Filter

The routes filter section enables you to specify a route or routes that are of interest to you for the stops in this column.

If you would like to see the scheduled stop times for all routes that service the stop(s), do not add any routes to the filter.

To see the scheduled bus departure times for the routes that interest you, add each route to the filter. To do this, enter the route number in the Search routes field. A list of routes with destinations that match the number you are entering will be displayed and you can select the appropriate route from the list.

Note that you can select specific destinations of a route that has multiple branches, or all the destinations of a route.

If you would like to remove a route from the column, press the Delete button beside the route.

Time Ranges

The time filter section enables you to specify a time range that is of interest to you for the stops in this column.

If you would like to see the scheduled bus departure times for the entire day, do not add any time ranges to the filter.

To display only the scheduled bus departure times for a time range that is of interest to you, press the Add range button and select a start time and an end time.

If you would like to remove a time range from the column, press the Delete range button for the range.

Add another Stop Column, Group, or Section

To add another column to your timetable, press the add button

found on an existing column.

To add another group to your timetable, press the add button found on an existing group. And to add another section to your timetable, press the add button found on an existing section.

Add another Stop Column

A list of stops that are found later along routes that service the existing column are displayed in a dropdown list. You may select one of these stops or select the Blank column. You can also edit the column later if you want to add additional stops to the column.

Edit a Group or Section

To edit a group or section, press the corresponding edit button

found on that part.

When you have completed this task, press the Submit button.

Change the Group or Section Title

Click in the title field and enter the name that you would like to appear on your group or section.

A time range added for a group will override any ranges that have been added to its columns. And a time range added for a section will override any ranges that have been added to its groups.

Delete Contained Part

Press the Expand button found beside the delete heading to display a list of the parts it contains. If you would like to delete any of the items, click on the check-box of that item and then press the Submit button.

Move a Column, Group, or Section

If you would like to move your columns, groups, or sections in a different sequence, you can use the drag button

located on the corresponding part.

Click and hold the drag button and drag the part to the position in which you would like it to appear. A column can only be moved within its group and a group can only be moved within its section.

Delete a Column, Group, or Section

If you would like to delete a column, group, or section from your timetable, press the delete button

located on the column, group, or section.

A confirm window will be displayed. Press Yes to proceed with the deletion or press No to ignore the delete request.
