Wi-Fi on Buses - Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve put together some common questions about Wi-Fi on buses.

How do I connect to Winnipeg Transit’s Wi-Fi?

  • You’ll need to enable Wi-Fi on your device in order to connect. Once enabled you should see our Wi-Fi and you’ll be able to connect.
  • Select WPGTransit and accept the Terms and Conditions.

Is Winnipeg Transit’s Wi-Fi free?

  • Yes. Our Wi-Fi will be free for passengers to use for the duration of the 12 month pilot program (April 2018 – April 2019)
  • No login or registration will be required to use the Wi-Fi, simply connect to WPGTransit and accept the Terms and Conditions.

What routes will Wi-Fi be available on?

  • Wi-Fi will be available on the 12 buses designated for the project. These buses will be dispatched randomly to different routes around the city. This will allow us to test the system’s performance and gauge interest throughout the City

How will I know whether my bus has Wi-Fi?

  • Wi-Fi is installed on 12 buses in our fleet
  • Every bus with Winnipeg Transit Wi-Fi will be marked with stickers inside and outside. Our web schedule and Navigo inquiries for today’s schedule on your desktop or mobile versions of the Winnipeg Transit website will show an indicator if your bus is going to be Wi-Fi enabled
  • TeleBUS will also announce if your bus is Wi-Fi enabled on the day you travel

If I’ve previously connected to Winnipeg Transit’s Wi-Fi will I automatically be connected the next time I ride a Wi-Fi enabled bus?

  • Once you leave a Wi-Fi enabled bus you’ll need to reconnect and accept the Terms & Conditions in order to access Wi-Fi on another Wi-Fi enabled bus.

I have connected to Winnipeg Transit Wi-Fi, but I don’t seem to have a connection to the internet. What’s wrong?

  • On some devices, you will not be taken immediately to the Terms and Conditions page upon connecting to Winnipeg Transit Wi-Fi. You need to accept the Terms and Conditions before you are given access to the internet over Wi-Fi. If you have not seen the Terms and Conditions after connecting, try using your web browser to navigate to, which should cause the Terms and Conditions to appear.

Who do I talk to if I have trouble connecting to Winnipeg Transit’s Wi-Fi?

  • You can contact 311 and they can walk you through the process of connecting to our Wi-Fi
  • Please do not ask your bus operators for help connecting to Wi-Fi. Their priority is getting everyone safely to and from their destination.
