Introducing a New Way to Access Up-to-Date Schedules

August 26, 2020 – Starting this fall, passengers waiting for the bus may notice an update to printed route information being displayed at select high-volume bus stops and junctions. New route maps will now be displayed alongside QR codes that link to up-to-date schedule information on the Winnipeg Transit website. Information on how to scan the QR code and alternate ways of obtaining schedule information will also be included.

Prior to this spring, Winnipeg Transit’s schedule changed only four times a year, when schedules displayed at select stops and junctions would be reprinted as necessary. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a greater need for scheduling flexibility. By providing passengers with QR codes and information on alternate ways to obtain scheduling information, Transit is better able to ensure displays are always accurate, while minimizing the environmental impact of providing printed information.

How do QR codes work?
