Winnipeg Transit

Winnipeg Transit Plus

Winnipeg Transit Plus is a service of Winnipeg’s public transit system that provides door-to-door transportation for people who are unable to regularly use the City’s fixed route transit system because of a physical disability in accordance with the established criteria.

Winnipeg Transit Plus operates within the same geographical service area as Winnipeg’s fixed route transit system. The origin and destination must be within 500 metres of a bus route.

Winnipeg Transit Plus transports individuals who are ambulatory or who travel in a wheelchair. Other mobility aides, such as scooters, canes and walkers, are accommodated (some restrictions apply).

Winnipeg Transit Plus delivers the service through contracts with private transportation service providers.
Vehicles used are:

  • cars
  • retrofitted mini-vans that are low floor, wheelchair accessible
  • mini-buses equipped with a wheelchair ramp.

Drivers physically assist passengers from the ground floor outermost doorway of the pick-up location, to and from the vehicle, to the ground floor outermost doorway of the destination.

Winnipeg Transit Plus is a pre-booked, shared ride service. Being the first to be picked up does not guarantee you will be the first dropped off. However, we try to keep in-vehicle travel times to a minimum and ensure that passengers get to their destinations by the requested times.
